Saint Etienne to release third single(s) from LP + new EP
17 November 2000

London ambient pop/dance trio Saint Etienne (Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley, Pete Wiggs), who recently completed a short, sold out North American tour and are set for a single show on 17 December at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, will release one or two new UK singles sometime over the next three months. The ambiguity is a pill, but I think we’ll all get over it.
Outlets such as Amazon UK and AB-CD list two new UK singles from Mantra Recordings, but an informed source tells us that single two may be cancelled. The release date is also up for grabs: Moved from October to early November and now perhaps to early January.
In any case, if you're a fan you’ll want to know that the multi-track CD singles revolve around the Boy Is Crying track off the band’s 2000 album Sound Of Water, produced in collaboration with Berlin’s To Rococo Rot. The supposed listing for CD 1 is Boy Is Crying (7in Edit), Northwestern, Shoot Out The Light, Boy Is Crying (extended mix by Hybrid), Northwestern (remix), How We Used To Live (mix by Paul Van Dyk). Amazon UK has 30 second RealAudio clips of all six tracks. Boy Is Crying CD 2, if released, will contain multiple mixes of the title track.
Seattle’s Sub Pop records has revealed to Rockbites that they’ll be releasing a US only ten track EP (or album, depending on your perspective) on 20 February. The EP will share two tracks with the UK single but contain eight new ones. The full listing is Roseneck, Northwestern, Queen Of Polythene, Red Setter, Mountain Rain, Shoot Out The Light, Stevie, Bar Conscience, Le Ballade De Saint Etienne, and Thank You. | Saint Etienne (unofficial) | | Saint Etienne on Sub Pop | | Mantra Recordings | | samples on Amazon UK | | bio | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
