16 November 2000

San Diego retro psychedelic/blues six piece Crowded Head headline a benefit show tomorrow (17 November) at the San Diego Hard Rock Café starting at 9 pm. All proceeds go to The Art Of Elysium, a project of the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital that provides arts workshops and free performances to chronically and terminally ill children. The event is the third in a series that previously featured Joy The Bug, Schel Reaux, Neptune, Head Rush Coalition, and Amory.
Crowded Head have also set up a charity program of their own called Prayers For The Hungry, which raises funds to provide food and shelter for homeless persons. Lead singer and lyricist Patty Brown has committed the royalties from her song Lucky Jones, off Crowded Head’s debut album Voices, to the program.
The unusually activist members of Crowded Head participate in The Art of Elysium program monthly by providing free music lessons and hosting music workshops for kids and their parents. Their label Blackball Music has donated computer systems and Internet access to the San Diego Children’s Hospital. | Crowded Head | | The Art Of Elysium | | See The Sea (full length MP3) | | top of page |
