London’s Comet Gain to play east coast US dates
14 November 2000

Version 2 of London’s Comet Gain—the original disintegrated in 1997 leaving only founder David Charlie Feck to carry on—will play four east coast US shows next month starting 7 December at NYU. All appearances are with The Aislers Set, Girlfrendo, and Sportique.
Feck (also in Mast, Adult Babys, Cinema Red + Blue, and Phantom) put together the art pop quintet he calls Comet Gain in London in 1993. After two albums for UK indie imprint Wiiija his band quit, three of them forming Velocette (no relation to Campag Velocet) who are on the upcoming glam tribute CD 'Rodney Bingenheimer Presents Blockbuster—A 70s Glitter Glam Rock Experience' due 31 January from LA’s Conspiracy Music.
Today’s Comet Gain—Feck along with Rachel Evans, Kay Ishikawa, Jon Slade, and M.J. Taylor aka Woody—combine naive vocals with erudite, sex & romance-centric lyrics and jangly guitar punk pop, pleasantly reminiscent of ’70s and ’80s bands like The Soft Boys and The Pooh Sticks.
In 1999 the reconstituted Comet Gain put out their Tigertown Pictures LP on Olympia, Washington label Kill Rock Stars. This spring Feck described work on a fourth album: “We’re in the middle of doing about 20 songs, I think 3 singles and an LP will appear, but I don’t know where or when.” They’re apparently working with London label Track And Field and plan to release a first single titled Mx Defiance.
Here are the upcoming US tour dates
