On 5 December US label Warner/Reprise releases two DVDs from legendary rocker and social activist Neil Young. The first is Red Rocks Live, a 19 track performance video shot over two nights this September at the Red Rocks amphitheatre near Denver. Performers include Young along with a band composed of 'family and friends.'
The Red Rocks Live disc is a traditional DVD playable on any DVD player. Tracks span three decades of Young’s career. They are Motorcycle Mama, Powderfinger, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, I Believe In You, Unknown Legend, Fool For Your Love, Buffalo Springfield Again, Razor Love, Daddy Went Walkin’, Peace Of Mind, Walk On, Winterlong, Bad Fog Of Loneliness, Words, Harvest Moon, World On A String, Tonight’s The Night, Cowgirl In the Sand, and Mellow My Mind.
Road Rocks Volume 1 is the first DVD-Audio release from Warner/Reprise and includes eight live songs—seven also on Red Rocks Live plus a duet with The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde of Bob Dylan’s All Along The Watchtower. To get the enhanced audio or the video from the Road Rocks disc you need a DVD player with the DVD-Audio logo.
Last Month Young hosted the 14th annual Bridge School benefit concert in Mountain View, California south of San Francisco. The series benefits Hillsborough, California’s Bridge School, “...an educational program dedicated to ensuring that children with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative & alternative means of communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) applications.
In January Young makes his first ever appearance in Brazil at the Rock In Rio—For A Better World benefit festival. | Neil Young (unofficial) | | The Bridge School | | Rock In Rio | | DVD info | | discography | | sample from Harvest Moon | | top of page |
