Massive Attack live interview Webcast this week 10 November 2000 Last month Massive Attack spoke with John Mitchell, and have posted excerpts from the interview on their UK Web site. Among other things, they reveal that theyve winnowed down the nearly 100 tracks recorded over the past year to about 15 for their upcoming fourth album, and are just about ready to start recording vocals. Former Cocteau Twins vocalist (and guest on 1998s Mezzanine) Elizabeth Fraser will sing on the not yet titled LP. Blurs Damon Albarn will assist on a special track featuring legendary reggae producer/vocalist Horace Andy, who also appeared on Mezzanine. Robert Del Naja, aka 3-D: One of our big ideas is to create a contrast within the album so that the tracks dont just sit together. One of my feelings about Mezzanine was that it sank a bit towards the middle into a quagmire in terms of the sound, the pace of the tracks, and the attitude as well... Im a big fan of the beginning and end but not the middle. This albums going to be a lot more up and down. Grant Marshall (aka Daddy-G) added Were certainly going for chunkier and more upbeat tracks and trying to evolve as a band. | Massive Attack (UK site) | | Massive Attack (US site) | | Interview Webcast on virtueTV | | discography | | sample from Mezzanine | | top of page | |
