Entertainment entrepreneur Alan McGee, who recently sold his highly successful Creation label to Sony, has confirmed that the Queen of England has taken a 2.3% stake in his new label Poptones. He said “Whilst I am not a monarchist I applaud her sound financial sense.”
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said simply “We never go into detail about the Queen’s investment portfolio.”
McGee announced Poptones back in January. He floated the company on the London Stock Exchange in August. The Queen’s £50,000 investment, as of Monday, was up to £67,000. | Poptones | | London Stock Exchange | | Buckingham Palace | | top of page |
