Jega releases second album, continues touring
1 November 2000

Manchester electronica artist Jega (Dylan Jega Nathan) attended architecture school in London with Richard James (aka Aphex Twin) and Mike Paradinas (aka µ-ZIQ, Tuskan Raiders). A self-professed introvert, he put out his first EP with their help, somewhat reluctantly, in 1996 on UK indie label Skam.
Earlier this month Jega released his second full length worldwide on Matador/DNA titled Geometry. It follows his 1998 debut Spectrum, the latter described by some critics as 'drill & bass' and generally a more aggressive if upbeat LP.
The new set is rather dark—even melancholy at times—but coherent, flowing, and engaging. Tracks are Alternating-Bit, Syntax-Tree, Recursion, Geometry, Rigid-Body-Dynamics, Doric, Breakpoint-Envelope, Interta, Binary-Space, Static, Post-Mid-Arc, Motion-Math, and Subdivision-Surfaces.
If you missed Jega this past weekend in New York at the Sin Festival/Planet Mu records Celebration, you may yet get a chance to see him soon. Matador Records says he’ll be continuing to tour the US and Europe with multiple trips in the near future. | Jega on Matador | | Jega interview on The Skinny | | Recursion (full length MP3) from Geometry | | Intron.ix (full length RealAudio) from Spectrum | | bio | | discography | | sample from Spectrum | | CD | | top of page |
