Pete Townshend auctions instruments for flood victims 5 May 2000 Pete Townshend, musical mastermind behind English rock legends The Who, will auction instruments and memorabilia online for a week starting 10 May at noon BST (7 am EDT). Money raised will benefit flood and drought victims in Mozambique and Ethiopa, through charity organzation Oxfam.     The collection includes a 1957 Fender Stratocaster guitar given to Townshend by Eric Clapton as a thank you for helping at Clapton’s 1973 Rainbow Theatre charity concert.
