Oasis lose Noel Gallagher, cancel shows

Noel Gallagher, guitarist and songwriter for troubled Britpop superstars Oasis, has quit their European tour forcing cancellations of three shows in France. A spokesperson told the press that Matt Deighton, who recently played with Paul Weller (ex Jam), will fill in for Gallagher starting with the 30 May show in Milan. The band expect Gallagher will return in time for the UK leg of the tour this summer.
The guitarist left the band on tour once before in 1996. And singer Liam Gallagher once walked out before a live MTV performance in London—brother Noel filled in on vocals.
