Yonkers, New York native DMX (Dark Man X, born Earl Simmons) has purchased the church that provided him with food and shelter during his lean years, saving it from immanent eviction. Pastor Marie Cooper spoke about the US$220,000 rescue: “There’s no doubt he will rewarded by God for this. This is going to be his church in the future. He was born to be a preacher.”
The rapper has sold more than 10 million LPs and recently appeared in Romeo Must Die. Commenting on recent drug and driving convictions and other legal troubles, Cooper said “He has no peace. And you can’t buy peace. But I know he’s going to be delivered. He’s my son, and he’s going to be alright.” | New York Journal News story | | DMX | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
