9 March 2000

Pakistani refugee Zoora Shah, a resident of Bradford, England, is serving a 20 year sentence for poisoning her husband Mohammed Azam. Azam allegedly abused her physically, sexually, emotionally, and economically for 12 years. She was convicted under questionable circumstances, with hospital and eye witness evidence of her abuse apparently ignored. The Mobilisation for Zoora Shah seeks her release on grounds of diminished responsibility.
London based anti fascist experimentalists Asian Dub Foundation are headlining a benefit for the cause 18 March at London’s Scala club. Other artists are to be announced. ADF then start a vigorous UK/European touring schedule that carries them through the end of May.
ADF’s next album Community Music is due 20 March in the UK on ffrr/London Records. | NME story | | Free Zoorah Shah | | ADF | | discography | | top of page |
