CD review: Embrace’s Drawn From Memory
26 March 2000
Chris Charles of the BBC Online reviews Drawn From Memory, the second album by English five piece Embrace. Drawn From Memory is out this week in the UK (no planned US release yet).
Charles describes the LP’s first single as sounding “more like Cornershop... than Cornershop... but you could still listen to it all day and not get bored.” Memory answers the critic’s question left by their debut, The Good Will Out: when will it? Charles says “Drawn From Memory is the sound of a band finally allowing themselves to fully realise their potential... So that’s the easy bit over and done with. Now they’ve got to make sure they stay there.”
Embrace play tonight (Monday) at the Hanover Grand in London, then start a 14 date European tour at Botanique in Brussels on 7 April.
If you’d like to hear some of the band now, the Embrace Web site goes to the extraordinary length of offering every track from every one of their releases in full length RealAudio format. | BBC story | | Embrace | | Embrace sounds | | bio | | discography | | sample from The Good Will Out | | top of page |
