Yusef Islam (Cat Stevens) releases children’s album
21 March 2000
London born Yusef Islam, famous worldwide in the 1960s and ’70s as Cat Stevens, has just released in the UK a mostly spoken word album for children. Titled A Is For Allah, the set continues in Islam’s peace and morality vein which he started five years ago after a 17 year absence from recording. He released the music LP I Have No Cannons in 1998 to benefit victims of the Bosnian war.
Islam says the new album seeks to teach children the Arabic alphabet in “an entertaining way, while at the same time teaching them the strong moral and spiritual base of the faith.” | BBC story | | Cat Stevens | | discography | | top of page |
