Chumbawamba’s Dunstan Bruce on WYSIWYG
16 March 2000
Dustan Bruce, vocalist and percussionist for the English anarchist pop collective Chumbawamba, spoke with Billboard about their forthcoming album WYSIWYG—a title Bruce describes as “both straightforward and ironic.
“Chumbawamba is basically a case of 'what you see is what you get': There are no pretensions in our music and politics, and another aspect of Chumbawamba is that a lot of our songs are quite sweet, crafted pop songs, but with a barbed, vicious content. So you might think you’re getting a sweet pop album, but it’s really an album full of incendiary messages about people and society in general.”
WYSIWYG is due 4 April in the US. | Billboard story | | discography | | sample from Tubthumper | | top of page |
