15 March 2000

Online entertainment site Oddcast has collaborated with New York city based human rights organization Witness to produce a twice monthly online video series dubbed the Witness rights alert. Every two weeks they’ll post new sound and video clips focusing on a single issue, with introduction and explanation by film and music celebrities including Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Angélique Kidjo, and Tim Robbins.
Stories now online expose the constitutionally ratified murder of civilians by the military in India, torture and poisoning of students by state police under white rule in South Africa, international forced prostitution rings managed by the Russian mafia, and children in active military duty in Uganda.
Peter Gabriel founded Witness with the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights and the Reebok Foundation to provide video equipment to human rights activists to help expose abuses and ensure justice around the world. | Witness rights alert | | Witness | | top of page |
