Chrissie Hynde joins Peta protest against Gap leather
10 March 2000

Akron born, London based Chrissie Hynde, front woman for Pretenders, joined a protest staged by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) yesterday at a New York city Gap clothing store. Peta holds that leather used in Gap products originates in India and involves extreme mistreatment of the animals, including multi-hundred mile death marches to one of the few Indian states allowing cow slaughter.
Hynde and three other protesters were arrested and released. Earlier this month she joined Peta in Toronto for a protest at a Gap store there. Pretenders continue a US tour today, which Hynde has dubbed the Protest Tour. | BBC story | | Peta | | tour dates | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
