Tom Waits joins effort to build libraries in Mexico
1 March 2000
Tomas Tomas is a nonprofit corporation founded last year in California by singer/songwriter/actor Tom Waits and software developer Tom Sawyer. Its mission is to “build libraries for children in Mexico” which are then owned and maintained by the surrounding communities. They purchased their first building in Alamos, Mexico in September, and are now staging plays and other events to raise money to buy books. For information on donating money, see their Web site or send a note to donations@tomastomas.org | NME story | | Tomas Tomas | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
