Mazzy Star, on triumphant tour, announce new LP
9 June 2000

Southern California psychedelic darkwavers Mazzy Star, who turned to Capitol Records in 1991 when Rough Trade USA folded, left Capitol four years ago and have been without a label since. Now they are finalizing a new deal with Rough Trade (UK) and hope to release a new studio LP soon.
The duo of vocalist Hope Sandoval and guitarist David Roback, who played together previously in Opal, have been on an extremely well received European tour. The current stage band includes My Bloody Valentine drummer Colm O’Coisaig on bass. NME reports that their London audience on Thursday brought them back for three encores. Celebrities spotted applauding included singer/songwriter Beth Orton, Richard Fearless of Death In Vegas, and UK reggae artist Finley Quaye. | NME story | | discography | | sample from So Tonight That I Might See | | top of page |
