Turkey gets first major rock festival 28 June 2000 Turkey’s first major outdoor rock festival H2000 took place 16-18 June at the Omerli Dam outside of Istanbul. A mix of UK, Turkish, and Icelandic bands along with a slew of DJs made the event an overwhelming success, say organizers, who now plan to repeat the festival anually. Bush, Chumbawamba, and Republica from the UK played, as did Iceland’s Gus Gus. Turkish acts included Aylin Aslim, Duman, Kargo, and Mor Ve Otesi. | NME story | | top of page | |
