Blur’s Graham Coxon releases second solo LP
26 June 2000

Graham Coxon, guitarist with London pop quartet Blur, has posted samples of every song on his second solo LP The Golden D, out two weeks ago in the UK and set for release on 22 August in North America. According to one UK reviewer, Coxon “...appears to have achieved his life-long dream: to create the ultimate American indie rock album.” The 30 second samples, available now in RealAudio and QuickTime, are Jamie Thomas, The Fear, Satan: Gratan, Fame and Fortune (MOB), Leave Me Alone, The Lake, Fags And Failure, My Idea Of Hell, Keep Hope Alive, Oochy Woochy, That’s When I Reach For My Revolver (MOB), and Don’t Think About Always.
The new album is a complete one man project, with Coxon singing, producing, and playing all the instruments—and it’s a painting of his used as the sleeve art. Musically D is a dramatic departure from The Sky Is Too High, the guitarist’s minimal/lo-fi debut. Two of the songs are covers of ’80s Boston hardcore band Mission Of Burma, marked MOB in the set list here. | Transcopic Records | | samples from The Golden D | | bio | | discography | | sample from The Sky Is Too High | | top of page |
