Atari Teenage Riot’s Elias gives birth to label, girl

Hanin Elias, vocalist for German hardcore band Atari Teenage Riot, recently announced the launch of Fatal—a women-centric music label to be distributed through band mate Alec Empire’s Digital Hardcore Recordings. Her album In Flames is due for a US re-release on Fatal next month. Also on tap is an LP from UK grrrl act Lolita Storm.
Elias said “In my opinion [Digital Hardcore] was out of balance—and was being destroyed by the increasing strength of the technology-orientated male hardcore. Fatal was established to facilitate an independent female development. And to create the natural balance I’d like to see as a model for society. I do not believe in a revolution where the women are permitted merely to make coffee for the tough, male activists.”
In other news, the 28 year old Elias gave birth to a daughter on 5 June in Berlin. The new arrival, Lilie Louise Isabella Elias, joins brother Victor Venus Elias, age three. | Hanin Elias on Digital Hardcore | | Fatal | | discography | | CD | | top of page |
