Jean Smith of Mecca Normal releases solo debut 22 June 2000
Experimental/minimalist composer, novelist, and vocalist Jean Smith, formerly of 2 Foot Flame and Mecca Normal, released her solo debut album this week in the US on Kill Rock Stars (having recently parted ways with Matador). Smith starts a brief, mostly east coast US tour tomorrow (23 June) with a couple of shows in Chicago. The tour runs through 9 July. She’s also playing the first annual Ladyfest celebration of women’s music, art, and politics, set for 1-6 August in Olympia Washington.
