The first studio album in twelve years by legendary Australian art rockers The Go-Betweens, which Rockbites first told you about in January, will be released in the UK on 11 September by Circus records. The band constitutes the reunion of singer/songwriter duo Robert Forster and Grant McLennan with a slew of northwest US artists—all longtime fans—helping out, including Pavement’s Stephen Malkmus, singer/songwriter Elliott Smith, Sleater-Kinney (Carrie Brownstone, Janet Weiss, and Corin Tucker), Quasi’s Sam Combos, and Adele Pickvance.
The ten track set titled The Friends Of Rachel Worth includes Magic In Here, Heart And Home, Spirit, Surfing Magazines, The Clock, Orpheus Beach, German Farmhouse, Going Blind, He Lives My Life, and When She Sang About Angels.
The Go-Betweens plan to tour the UK this fall. They have not announced a US tour or a US release date for the new album. | NME story | | The Go-Betweens | | discography | | sample from Bellavista Terrace (best of) | | top of page |
