Samiam return with new full length next month
7 July 2000

Berkeley, California power punk quintet Samiam return with their first full length in over two years on 29 August with Astray, to be released on CD and vinyl by their new labels Hopeless Records/Burning Heart Records. They recorded it with producer Tim O’Hier (Sebadoh, J. Mascis, Throwing Muses) near San Francisco but according to a note on the band’s official Web site “...it turned out to be cheaper to put the finishing touches on out in the Big Apple.” Astray follows 1998’s You Are Freaking Me Out, produced by Steven Haigler (Pixies, Local H).
Samiam hit a few US towns next month, with a full world tour planned to start September. We’ll post the dates as soon as we hear about them.
If you can’t wait till August for a dose of Samiam, you can find a couple of their recent songs on Hopeless Records’ 1999 DVD release Cinema Beer Belly, and on the Adeline Records Samiam compilation The New Red Years, recently released in North America. And the band have posted MP3 versions of four demo tracks recorded in the spring of 1999 in Billie Joe’s basement (he of Green Day), available on their site’s Audio page. | Samiam | | discography | | sample from Soar | | CD | | top of page |
