Mount Florida ready debut LP, play Glasgow
6 July 2000

Scottish techno duo Mount Florida (their name comes from their place of origin, a section of Glasgow) have finished their debut album and have just announced the title: Arrived Phoenix. According to Matador Records, it’s a joke so in that half the band don’t get it.
The band—MP Lancaster (Mike Lancaster), formerly of Muslimgauze, and Twitch (Keith McIvor), also DJ at Glasgow’s Pure club and a member of Vodershow—play their live debut 29 July at their hometown Barrowlands supporting Lee “Scratch” Perry. They are hoping that appropriate software arrives in time to let them use their Apple iBooks on stage.
Described variously as “dub/pop, ” “experimental ambient,” and “not-soundtrack,” their sound is best just listened to. Matador Records Europe has released two full length MP3 files from Mount Florida, Lost In Satie (from their Stealth EP) and Roc The Bukowski (from their Storm EP). The EPs, each with four tracks, are still available in Europe and as imports in the US. | Mount Florida | | MF on Matador Europe | | Lost In Satie (MP3 - 5 MB download) | | Roc The Bukowski (MP3 - 4.5 MB download) | | bio | | discography | | top of page |
