Henry Rollins on Comedy Central
24 July 2000

American spoken word artist, former Black Flag vocalist, and all around punk’s entrepreneur Henry Rollins presents his first ever television special 11 August on North American cable channel Comedy Central. The hour long Henry Rollins Live And Ripped From London was taped during his 1999 Think Tank tour.
For the uninitiated, Rollins describes his spoken word act: “It’s storytelling and live-on-the-spot editorializing, not so much a poetry performance or straight-up comedy thing. It’s fairly long-winded, humorous, insightful, and as always, honest... I just get up there and start talking, and nine out of ten times it becomes humorous—like most things in life.”
Rollins has been touring European and Japanese rock festivals this summer with his re-formed Rollins Band, which includes members of LA’s Mother Superior—playing tonight at Zeltival in Karlsruhe, Germany and on Friday at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. He’s planning a spoken word tour around the time of the TV special. Check back for details. | Henry Rollins | | bio | | discography | | sample from Think Tank | | top of page |
