Sonic Youth TV appearance with Jim O'Rourke
19 July 2000
image
Back from a joint European tour, New York city experimental post rockers Sonic Youth performed last night with producer/multi-instrumentalist Jim O’Rourke on NBC television’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien. They start a North American tour on 3 August.
If you watched closely you might have noticed that the band’s new guitars (their old ones were stolen with the rest of their equipment while the band were touring last year) sport stickers of South Park characters, with Thurston Moore’s instrument proudly displaying Phillip (of the fart-obsessed cartoon-within-a-cartoon The Terrance And Phillip Show) while Kyle’s baby brother Ike adorns Lee Ranaldo’s new axe. | Sonic Youth | | tour dates | | Beef-Cake (South Park resources) | | discography | | sample from Goodbye 20th Century | | CD | | top of page |
