Sir Paul McCartney donates US$2 million to cancer research 5 January 2000 Ex Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has donated US$1 million (£625,000) each to New Yorks Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and to Tuscons Arizona Cancer Center, hospitals that cared for his late wife Linda during her battle against breast cancer. He said Lindas doctors were all great and managed to alleviate suffering which she might otherwise have had. I want to help them continue that work for the benefit of others and to enable them to study the possibilities of alternative treatments. Following McCartneys wishes, the grants will fund research on botanical and holistic treatment methods. None will go toward animal-based research. | BBC story | | discography | | sample | | top of page | |
