Goodbye Sony: Alan McGee founds new indie label 4 January 2000 Alan McGee, co-founder of Englands highly influential Creation Records, turned the reigns over to Sony Corporation in November. He has now announced that his new indie label will be called Poptones (after the 1979 Public Image Limited song). Speaking to Uncut magazine, McGee said Were creating a new undergound. I wont be playing the game... Poptones is anti-marketing... But the ideas so strong I cant fail... Theres some fucking great ideas: downloads, Webcasts, and a load of things that havent been done before. Ive got a lot of tricks up my sleeve. | NME story | | top of page | |
