Electronic collection to spotlight The Groovebox 20 January 2000 Tannis Root, an enigmatic graphic artist, songwriter, and producer who has worked with Superchunk and Sonic Youth, has collaborated with Beastie Boys label Grand Royal to assemble the collection LP At Home With The Groovebox. The album celebrates a device containing a wide range of samples, fashioned as an electronic “band in a box” that encourages artists to act as conductors—or to employ it as an instrument in its own right. Each of the artists on the album, due March, contributed a new composition. They are 1. JEAN JACQUES PERREY - The Groovy Leprechauns 2. BUFFALO DAUGHTER - 303 + 606 = ACID 3. JOHN McENTIRE - J.I.H.A.D. 4. AIR - Planet Vega 5. PAVEMENT - Robyn Turns 26 6. MONEY MARK - Insects Are All Around Us 7. BECK - Boyz 8. SEAN LENNON - Winged Elephants 9. GERSHON KINGSLEY - Popcorn 10. SONIC YOUTH - Campfire 11. BIS - Oh My 12. CIBO MATTO - We Love Our Lawyers 13. BONNIE “PRINCE” BILLY - Today I Started Celebrating Again 14. DICK HYMAN - Glass Slipper Leading up to the release, Grand Royal will post one track per week in copy protected RealAudio and Windows Media Technology 4 formats. | LP info | | top of page | |
