California Music Awards nominees announced 19 January 2000 The Bammy Awards, which celebrated San Francisco bay area musicians for 21 years, in 1999 broadened its scope to the entire state and took on the name California Music Awards. For the 23rd annual event on 8 April, Tower Records becomes the primary sponsor and adds its name to the show. Nominees for Outstanding Debut Album are Nasty Little Thoughts by Stroke 9, Let It Blast by Bell Rays, February Son by Oleander, and self titled first LPs by For Stars and Applesaucer.
