Oasis to cover The Who’s My Generation
18 January 2000
During Steve Lamacq’s Evening Session show on the BBC’s Radio 1 last night, Manchester’s favorite sons Oasis picked My Generation out of a hat containing the five most voted for songs for the band to cover. NME had successfully prompted a campaign to nominate Blur’s Country House, a song Oasis’ Gallagher brothers are known to despise.
Oasis will record My Generation at the BBC’s Maida Vale studios this week, and Lamacq will air it on a future show.
The other songs nearly picked were Nirvana’s Come As You Are, The Rolling Stones’ Sympathy For The Devil, and Robbie Williams’ Angels. | NME story | | discography | | sample from Be Here Now | | top of page |
