Streaming content recorder blocked from sale 18 January 2000 King county, Washington Superior Court judge Marsha Pechman issued a preliminary injunction Tuesday against Seattle startup Streambox.com, preventing them from selling Streambox VCR. The product allows users to record streamed RealAudio and RealVideo content, capturing the streams to files for later replay. The ruling suggests that the Streambox product may be illegal under the federal Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and may provide precedent that Real Network’s streaming technology should be classified as a copyright enforcement system. | Live Daily story | | top of page | |
