Twisted Sister deny Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker
18 January 2000
Members of long disbanded New York metal quintet Twisted Sister have asked the Atlanta Braves baseball organization to stop using the Dee Snyder song I Wanna Rock from their 1984 album Stay Hungry, favored as a theme by homophobic, racist, jingoistic pitcher John Rocker.
42 year old guitarist Jay Jay French wrote “All five of us are the children of immigrants, so we find Rocker’s tirade against 'foreigners' to be particularly offensive. We’re all New Yorkers and baseball fans, but this goes far beyond baseball. It goes to the heart of a sickness that still permeates our society.” | Billboard story | | Sports Illustrated story | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
