Kiss to auction gear, costumes in May 11 January 2000 Theatrical metal legends Kiss have announced they are auctioning most of their equipment and costumes in a live event this May, with bidding in person and online. Bill Hughes, president of the Collectibles Division of New Jerseys Greg Manning Auctions, told SonicNet he will display items in San Francisco, Chicago, and Los Angeles, with live bidding likely to take place in LA. SonicNet makes no mention of a charity for the event; the estimated US$5 million (£3.1 million) to be raised will apparently go to the band members themselves. Last year guitar legend Eric Clapton auctioned more than 100 of his instruments, also raising about $5 million, which he gave to his Crossroads substance abuse center on the Caribbean island of Antigua. | SonicNet archive | | bio | | discography | | sample | | top of page | |
