Megadeth guitarist calls it quits mid tour
10 January 2000
Lead guitarist Marty Friedman has quit San Francisco metal band Megadeth in the middle of their current North American tour—the band’s first lineup shift since 1990 when Friedman joined the band. He wants to pursue other musical interests, according to Megadeth’s official statement.
Al Pitrelli, a member of Alice Cooper’s band, will fill in for Friedman on the remainder of the tour and on their upcoming international tour. The band are supporting their ninth studio album Risk. | Live Daily story | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
