Foghat founder dies after year fighting cancer 8 February 2000 Dave Peverett, founder and front man for straight ahead London rockers Foghat, died at age 56 (or 57, depending on your news source) on Monday in Orlando, Florida. He succumbed to respiratory complications resulting from treatment for kidney cancer. As recently as this past fall, “lonesome” Dave had recovered enough health to tour with his reunited band—they’ve worked together on and off since 1993—behind their 1998 live retrospective Road Cases. Foghat’s ’70s classics, such as Slow Ride and I Just Wanna Make Love To You, have remained popular on US commercial radio. Peverett leaves behind his wife Linda, three children, and a grandson. His family will hold a private service this week, and requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent in the name of Dave Peverett to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Judes Place, Memphis TN 38105, USA or by calling 800-822-6344. | CDnow allstar story | | discography | | sample | | top of page | |
