Morphine may release archival material 7 February 2000 Morphine drummer Billy Conway told Wall Of Sounds Gary Graff that the band may release albums culled from the bands archives. Front man Mark Sandman died last year while on tour, but had recorded a great deal of never released material. Mark was incredibly prolific. There was a certain point in his career where he had five different little outlets, and a lot of the songs cross pollinated. It was amazing how hard he kept going. The band had finished their current LP The Night prior to Sandmans death. Conway and saxophone player Dana Colley at one point considered never releasing the material. Had the record not been finished, I dont know how Id feel. But the fact that we do have this music, to me, is better than not having this music. Conway and Colley are playing in their new nine-piece Orchestra Morphine and plan to tour the US starting this spring. | Wall of Sound story | | discography | | sample | | top of page | |
