Spitfire Spring 2000 spoken word tour early dates 16 February 2000 The Spitfire spoken word US tour has announced the first of its spring 2000 dates. The tour of mostly university campuses starts 9 March at Reed Colleges Kaul Auditorium in Portland, Oregon, with Moon Zappa, Kennedy (former MTV VJ), Michael Franti (Spearhead front man), and Krist Novoselic (activist, former Nirvana bassist). This performance is free, and available only to Reed students. Indeed, most of the shows announced so far are free. Organizers expect to announce many additional dates in the coming weeks, and advise those interested to check the site. Spitfire, a touring free speech forum, was launched in 1998 by Zack De La Rocha, human rights advocate and singer for Rage Against The Machine. Past speakers have included Art Alexakis (Everclear), Exene Cervenka (X), Ice T, Jello Biafra (The Dead Kennedys, Lard), Perry Farrel (Janes Addiction, Porno For Pyros), and De La Rocha. | SonicNet archive | | Spitfire | | top of page | |
