1999 pazz & jop winners: Moby, Magnetic Fields, Beck

New York city’s Village Voice weekly has just announced the results of its 1999 pazz & jop critics poll, which is the “26th or 27th” annual according to the paper. This year’s edition lists an astounding 1,280 albums.
    The pazz & jop top ten LPs for 1999 are

  1. Play by Moby (V2)
  2. 69 Love Songs by Magnetic Fields (Merge)
  3. Midnite Vultures by Beck (DGC)
  4. The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips (Warner Bros.)
  5. Mule Variations by Tom Waits (Epitaph)
  6. The Battle Of Los Angeles by Rage Against The Machine (Epic)
  7. When The Pawn... by Fiona Apple (Clean Slate/Epic)
  8. Summer Teeth by Wilco (Reprise)
  9. Central Reservation by Beth Orton (Arista)
10. Black On Both Sides by Mos Def (Rawkus)

    The pazz & jop bottom three albums for 1999 are
