Iceland gives Björk an island 14 February 2000 The government of Iceland is giving favorite daughter, composer/chanteuse Björk (Björk Gudmundsdóttir) the island of Ellidaey in Breidhafjördhur (Breida Fjord), one mile off the northwest coast of the mainland. The gift follows Björks recent request to purchase the island. Prime Minister David Oddsson told parliament We ought to do everything we can for her and show her as much respect as possible. On 27 March Björk releases a 17 CD box set titled A Selection Of Singles, primarily retrospective but containing some previously unreleased material. | NME story | | discography | | sample from Homogenic | | top of page | |
