Yo La Tengo to play UK with VIP guests
11 February 2000
Sonic Boom (Pete Kember, of Spacemen 3 and Experimental Audio Research) and Neil Innes (of Bonzo Dog Band, Monty Python, Tom Newman’s band, and The Rutles) will play onstage with Yo La Tengo for a series of six dates on YLT’s forthcoming European tour. To be clear, the two alt rock luminaries are not a support act, but are playing as temporary members of the band.
England quintet dates for YLT are

May
3 - Cambridge (Junction)
4 - Sheffield (Leadmill)
6 - Brighton (Gardner Arts Centre)
7 - Warwick (Arts Centre)
8 - London (Royal Festival Hall)
9 - Manchester (Royal Northern College of Music)

As Rockbites reported earlier, English audiences aren’t the only ones to soon be treated to Yo La Tengo as a quintet. The Hoboken, New Jersey art pop stylists tour North America as a five piece starting 25 February at Washington, DC’s 9:30 Club. They’re joined by Superchunk front man Mac McCaughan and The Clean guitarist David Kilgour taking turns on guitar and keyboards. | US tour dates | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
