Mary Timony announces Helium reunion
7 December 2000
image

US singer/songwriter Mary Timony, who played in all girl Washington, DC art/punk act Autoclave before college, founded the adored psychedelic/pop band Helium in Boston in 1992. She left five years later to record with The Spells (the duo of Timony and Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein) as well as to work solo.
Timony has just revealed that Helium are back together, writing songs and practicing—but it’s too soon for any tour or recording announcements. At the same time, Timony and Brownstein are working on new material as The Spells. Brownstein has some time on her hands, as Sleater-Kinney announced in October that they’re taking a two year break.
Timony released her dreamy solo debut LP Mountains this past March. | Helium (fan site) | | The Spells (fan site) | | Autoclave on Southern Records | | bio | | discography | | top of page |
