Popular Noise Foundation benefit for SF musicians
5 December 2000

San Francisco’s Popular Noise Foundation, founded earlier this year in response to the city’s disintegrating infrastructure for developing musicians, is staging the first of a series of monthly benefit concerts on 21 December at Bottom Of The Hill. Titled Cover For Cover, the benefit features ten local Bay Area artists performing covers of other local artists. The lineup includes The Alvarados, Blue Sky Roadster, Dean Del Ray, Jolly, Beth Lisick, Scott Miller (Loud Family, Game Theory), Orexa, Rumah Sakit, Shackleton, and Swarm.
The Popular Noise Foundation joins the previously established Save Local Music collective and the Organized Tenants of Downtown Rehearsal—the latter consisting of the 500 bands evicted in October from the city’s most important rehearsal space, many now left with nowhere to practice. PNF’s founders include Noise Pop Festival founder Kevin Arnold, garageband.com founder and former Talking Head Jerry Harrison, and Pavement’s Scott Kannberg. | Popular Noise Foundation | | Save Art/Organized Tenants of DR | | Save Local Music | | Bottom Of The Hill | | top of page |
