New York’s ultra legendary Lou Reed, one time front man with Andy Warhol’s The Velvet Underground and still making killer music these days, was caught to tape as early as 1958—while still attending Freeport High School on Long Island.
Now NYC based indie label Norton has issued a limited edition 7" vinyl EP with four tracks from those early years. Titled All Tomorrow’s Dance Parties, the disk features two songs from Reed’s high school band The Jades plus two recorded in 1962 under the name Lewis Reed. The package includes liner notes with details on the sessions. You can order it now from Midheaven—on their front page enter 'all tomorrow's dance parties' in the Quick Search box, then click Search.
Reed is in Paris through Friday performing his biographical musical POE-try, about 19th century US author Edgar Allen Poe. The show debuted in February of this year in Hamburg. Reed next heads to Germany where he’ll perform the show 23-26 January 2001 in Ludwigshafen. | Lou Reed | | Midheaven Mailorder | | Poe bio | | discography | | top of page |
