Timmy And The Lords Of The Underworld debut single
28 August 2000

Timmy, the ambiguously handicapped eight year old on Comedy Central’s South Park animated series, releases his first CD single with backing band The Lords Of The Underworld on 5 September in the US. The disc contains two tracks, both previously available for MP3 (MPEG I layer 3) paid download from the Comedy Central Web site: the title track B/W Livin’ A Lie.
Timmy’s character (voice: Trey Parker) proved wildly popular following a planned one time only appearance, leading to a commitment by South Park creators Parker and Matt Stone to include him in every episode. Like most characters and elements in the series, Timmy serves dual comedic and social commentary roles—he’s been targeted by South Park’s singularly incompetent adults to be hidden away lest anyone mock him, and diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder and placed on Ritalin.
While fellow second grader Kenny (who dies every episode) has made a career without uttering an intelligible statement, Timmy’s fame comes in part from a one word but ingenuously enthusiastic vocabulary: “Timmy!”
