Sub Pop Records launches Web radio channels
24 August 2000
image
Yesterday Seattle indie label Sub Pop Records announced the launch of three Web radio channels built in collaboration with San Francisco’s Wired Planet streaming service. You can listen directly in a Web browser if you have Java enabled and have the appropriate plug-ins—the Web site helps you get what you need. But you can only use Microsoft Internet Explorer on 56k or slower modem connections—no other browsers work.
All the content comes from Sub Pop’s 500 album catalog. The 'Admiral’s Quarantine' channel offers harder rock while the 'Footie Pajamas' channel includes electronica, indie pop, twee rock, and so on. The members only 'Secret Panda' channel includes previews of upcoming releases. | Sub Pop | | Wired Planet | | top of page |
