Matthew Patrick Pryor, front man for Kansas City power pop quintet The Get Up Kids, has been working on a side project band he calls The New Amsterdams, a minimalist acoustic folk rock four piece. It includes Get Up Kids bassist Robert Pope on bass and organ, along with guitarist Alex Brahl and drummer Jake Cardwell. Their debut album Never You Mind appears in stores 19 September on southern California indie label Vagrant Records, although you can pre-order it now via the Vagrant Web site or from online retailers such as CDnow.
Meanwhile, The Get Up Kids are playing a few UK dates this week. They return Stateside to start a six week US tour on 1 September at the Bottleneck in Lawrence, Kansas. | Vagrant Records | | The New Amsterdams on Vagrant | | Getup Kids tour dates | | discography | | CD | | top of page |
