The Get Up Kids UK, US dates

Big in Japan, Kansas City power pop quintet The Get Up Kids play four dates in England next week, then start a six week US tour on 1 September at the Bottleneck in Lawrence, Kansas. The US tour boasts the whimsically pretentious moniker The Battle Of The Monster Rock Heroes & Villains US Tour 2000, and includes The Anniversary and Koufax on all dates. Jebediah joins the party on 28 September in St. Petersburg, Florida for the balance of the tour.
The Get Up Kids have no new release to promote (since last September’s Something To Write Home About), although you can find GUK tracks on some recent compilations and collaborations: the MTV Real World CD, the Metroschifter/Scott Ritcher concept album Encapsulated (out soon on Doghouse Records and also featuring Metroschifter songs performed by The Promise Ring, Burning Airlines, Joan Of Arc, and others), the Fadeaway Records Best Comp In The World CD, the Another Year On The Streets compilation (due October on Vagrant Records), and a split 7" with Rocket From The Crypt (due December).
