5 April 2000

Former Velvet Underground front man Lou Reed, who this week released his new album Ecstasy to critical praise, has just signed on to play this summer’s Roskilde Festival in Denmark. It’s Reed’s first visit to the event in 16 years.
The Roskilde Festival 2000 takes place 29 June through 2 July in Roskilde, Denmark, with seven stages and 160 bands. As always, all profits from the musical/political event go to humanitarian and cultural charities and projects, with coordination by Foreningen Roskildefonden (The Roskilde Charity Society). Some 15,000 volunteers from the community participate.
Other bands signed on for this year include Calexico, Chumbawamba, The Cure, Everything But The Girl, The Flaming Lips, Gomez, Nine Inch Nails, Oasis, Pearl Jam, and Roni Size & Reprazent. | Roskilde Festival | | Roskilde Charity Society | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
